Indian Rupee Traded Little Changed Amid Upbeat Equities And Exporter's Dollar Sales

Financial Market Overview

Indian Rupee

  • Indian Rupee traded little changed at 74.36/74.37 compared to 74.32/74.33 in the previous session as upbeat Indian equities offset exporter’s dollar sales.
  • The benchmark 5.85% bond maturing in 2030 traded higher at 98.32 yielding 6.04% compared to 98.19, yielding 6.10% as investors await RBI’s bond purchase programme.

Indian Equities

  • The Sensex climbed to 50,042 , up 0.77%, while the Nifty was at 14,961.35, up 0.97%.
  • JSW Steel, Tata Steel and Shree Cement were among the top gainers.

Global Markets

  • Asian market were trading higher with the exception of Tokyo’s benchmark as fears of rising coronavirus weighed. The Nikkei 225 index dropped 0.1% to 29,708.98, while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong jumped 1.2% to 29,014.57 and the Shanghai Composite index added 0.1% to 3,481.70.
  • European markets opened higher. German’s DAX gained 50 points at 15,235, London's FTSE 100 was up 21 points and France's CAC was up 22 points at 6.154.
  • On the Wall Street, S&P 500 rose 0.1% to 4,079.95, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.1% to 33,446.26 and the Nasdaq composite slipped 0.1% to 13,688.84.
  • US crude oil fell 56 cents to $59.21 per barrel while the Brent crude lost 56 cents to $62.60 per barrel.
