Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini added to the euro's woes on Thursday when he said there was no way to patch up differences in Italy's ruling coalition and the only way forward was to hold new elections.

Euro's downside risk against the dollar is growing, and the single currency was already under pressure from weak German data released on Wednesday.
